A Republican-supported group of Minutemen go on trial tomorrow for the murder of a nine year-old little girl and her mother. Just another GOP crosshair gone wrong.
From the opening statements of the trial:
It began on the morning of May 30, 2009, Raul Flores heard a knock at the door of his Arivaca, Arizona, home. When he opened it, he found a man and a woman claiming to be law-enforcement officers in search of fugitives. Minutes later, the man shot Flores six times, in the head, chest and arm. He died at the scene. Then he pumped three bullets into Flores’ wife, Gina Gonzalez, hitting her in the arm, leg and chest. She survived but played dead.
“Why did you shoot my mom?” Gonzalez’s 9-year-old daughter, Brisenia Flores, asked the gunman. Those were her last words. The man put a gun to her head, fired off two rounds, one through the cheek and the other other that blew out the back of her head.
They shot her mom because Republicans, dead-set on instituting Fascist governmental reform in our country endorse it.
Republican legislators in Arizona attended the convention for the “Minuteman Project” to express their agreement with the organization’s aims. State Representative Russell Pearce said, “I felt we needed to make that trip down there and show our undying support for these patriots. They are the heroes.” He was accompanied by Republican State Representatives Chuck Gary, Andy Biggs and Jack Harper.
But, they’re just state reps, right? Yeah, but they’re just the locals. The racist hate vigilante group is supported by Republicans all the way up the chain of command.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was also in on the hate parade, indicating that he would welcome a similar project in his California. “When the government, the state or the country doesn’t do its job, then the private citizens go out and it’s like a neighborhood patrol.”
Yes, it is. The same way the KKK sweeping through Birmingham looking for Black folk to hang and burn alive was a neighborhood patrol.
But, it doesn’t end there. In 2005, 71 members of the House of Representatives Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus (69 Republicans and 2 Democrats) comprised the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, and came out in full support of these vigilantes. Then Chairman, Tom Tancredo (Republican of Colorado), said: “I would like to thank the Minutemen on behalf of the millions of Americans who can’t be here with you today. You have the courage to say to the government of the United States, ‘Do your duty! Protect our borders! Protect our communities! Protect our families! Protect our jobs!’”
Of course they were. Very similar to the way SS Brownshirts in National Socialist pre-WWII Germany were protecting jobs of the master race from the evil Jews.
This is out of hand. The GOP has gone so far off the deep end of the right wing as to justify the comparison to their Nazi mentors. The Godwin Rule no longer applies.
