House Republican's base of hate tended to over empire
Last Wednesday, House Republicans wasted taxpayer money in an effort to appease their ignorant base with dead-end legislation that won’t revoke Obama’s Health Care Reform. They’re doing it again with Gay Marriage.
Republicans have a Tea-Party backed majority in the House of Representatives, so in lieu of Democrats pulling the same filibuster shenanigans that prevented *them* from bringing anything up for a vote, the GOP is free to spend all of our money passing bills that have ZERO chance making it through the Senate or our President’s veto pen. But, they do it anyway, and it’s not just news cycle games and point scoring. It’s our money and our interests that are being wasted in grand fashion by these PR hate zealots.
Congress, with its $165K salaries, the offices, committees, subcommittees, staffers, expense accounts, travel, etc, costs $5.42 billion per year (CBO). Since the congress is only in session 103 days out of the year, that amounts to $56.2 million each and every day. That they choose to waste their time with political grandstanding just to keep their super-right wing base active at the expense of our country’s best interests is one thing. But spending $56 million of OUR money to do it is simply unacceptable.
So, as you watch the news and see John Bohner’s orange smirk as the GOP Gay Marriage ban passes before being predictably led to responsible slaughter, remember that this irresponsible folly cost each and every one of us real money while our country is on the brink of economic disaster.
The right wing does not care about the US or its citizens. It cares about its donors and keeping an ignorant base pumped up through dangerous mis-reporting on FOX News. We can’t afford to allow this to continue. (The Hill)
